I guess I'm developing an eye for landscaping With the new paving blog too, I find myself appreciating paving projects and taking pictures of those... Some people might find them weird, but I figured this is the perfect place to share them so here goes.

These are from the Ramat Hanadiv Gardens in a town called Zikhron Yaacov in Israel. It's about 20 minutes away from where I live, and we definitely should visit the place more - it's beautiful!





Check out that lawn there - it's a very strange type of grass that creates these cute little bumps in the lawn.





That tree looks so unique, and I loved how they echoed its shape in the plants on the ground.



It's a bit like sculpting in plants, isn't it?








That's the rose garden, very formal with water fountains and sculptures -




I thought it was really nice, how they sort of broke the squareness of the structured paving with round pieces of grass like that around the rose bushes.

That looks like a place where I could spend days wandering around looking at all of the beautiful plants. Also, it looks like whoever designed the different gardens really had an artistic eye.

Melissa, Anne has shown me pictures from other areas of Israel as well. They have the most incredible gardens. It really is amazing. That is a place where some great gardening and designing minds practice, big time.

Wow. I love these pictures! Was trying to pick a favorite, but why?

One of the things that we can take away from this, too, is that you don't have to have a million different plant varieties to have something special. These gardens are gorgeous -- and a lot of it is in the arrangement of what is there. Larger groupings, attention to layout.

Of course, the smaller residential scales this down a bit, but same principle.

i'll rate the 3rd picture best for its color combination
