We had a windy day yesterday and look what happened to my Robina tree

Or it could have been gnome damage:)

That's too bad! It looks like a lovely tree. We lost a branch off of our Sassafras tree yesterday due to wind also, but it was no where near as extensive as yours!

Tough luck, Anakat, darn. Those are a pretty soft wood tree variety. They grow nice and fast but, just about at the 8-12 year mark, they can get pummelled and changed by wind. It will be OK. One way to help them is to lop off some of the tips of branches, maybe even thin some middle growth. The weakness, as you can see, is from rapid growth and a spindly branch. Anything that beefs up branch girth is a good thing, in other words.

What a shame! It looks like a beautiful tree, too! Is there a local branch of gnome busters in your area?

Oh sure whenever there is trouble blame the poor gnomes! Ya know Gnomes have feelings too. Maybe there is some Elves or Angels or something out there that likes to damage trees? Huh? Huh?:19:

My poor tree lost another 'lump' this evening :bawling2: I think I am going to have to put it out of it's misery, and try again with another one in a more sheltered place. It is so pretty when it is in flower.

It's called "Purple Robe Locust" out here, I believe. One of the Acacia family, the single most common tree in the world, not the Purple Robe, but the Acacia family. (Useful in Trivial Pursuits!)

Don't see many locusts around here - other than my kitty Loki when he's being bad! Then I call him Locust!
What a beautiful tree. Can you maybe move it to a more sheltered place rather than lose it altogether? or is that a dumb question?
