I don't like the looks of this storm track. It goes right over us on Friday :shocker:

OMG, Neet! I hope it bypasses you! I didn't realize you were in the hurricane zone!

I just hope it bypasses our new house! :shocker:
We are 200 miles inland from the coast of North Carolina, but we have had hurricanes before. Hugo in 1989 destroyed most of our trees in central NC. We had no electricity for three weeks, lived out of coolers and cooked on the gas grill. It was something I do not care to relive.
I don't know how people on the coast handle it; the stress of it would drive me to move.

Neet, how about the folks on those Outer Islands? Like I said elsewhere, it does seem like those 'canes are more frequent any more. Y9u're right about the stress. Not sure I could take it, either.

Those people living on the Outer Banks islands are just nuts. As many time as they have been wiped out, they keep building back. They can't get insurance on those HUGE homes they build, and are PISSED because the government won't help them rebuild. I don't see that it is the taxpayers problem if you are too foolish to understand "Don't build here. A hurricane will come and destroy your home."

I couldn't agree with you more!:rain:

Like those building on the cliffs out West, on the Pacific, flush in the face of awful Winter weather. Rain, wind all that, and they build 10 feet from the edge, then ask for assistance when the banks erode. Duh.

Well, we haven't floated away. YET. It is POURING here, and we still have about 18 hours to go until Ernesto moves away. About 4 inches of rain at home, and over 8 in the eastern part of the state :shocker:

I've been watching it on the news! Looks like it's going to head up here too this weekend - supposed to be raining and windy.

Well if I don't float away, I'll keep an eye out for you! What color is your boat?

Well, the rain has slacked off here, looks like the eastern parts of NC and Virginia are getting pounded right now. Lukcily it moved east overnight before it came ashore, so we missed a lot of it.
I'll keep an eye for you later this weekend, in case you wash down South...

Good luck, Lokismum! I watched the news last night and Maryland is bracing for it. The water level rose 2 feet during the day.

We ended up with quite a bit, but less than the eastern part of the state. Virginia, Maryland and eastern Pennsylvania got soaked.

Everything OK where you are?

Yup. About 100 miles east is where the worst of it was.
AND the new house survived too!

Glad to hear everyone made out OK. The remnants will be here shortly. The wind is starting to pick up. I just finally went out and took pics of my unkempt yard to post later. I figured I better do it now before the wind destroys soe of the flwoers.

The rain started here a couple of hours ago - not real heavy although it's getting heavier.
