Bog gardens

This may seem a weird subject coming from someone based in Reno, Nevada, with all of our 7.5 inches of rain a year, but we have made a few of these here. Bog gardens can be delightful and do not need the amount of water shown here, a project we did in Portland that had a drainage problem we solved by just accepting it and creating this swamp. It is the perfect reservoir for accepting the drainage from around the house. The plants one can raise in a bog garden are extremely interesting and varied. You'll notice the picture has some bamboo's and grasses, which liked it so much we had to thin them drasticly. The blooms and grasses possibilities are immense and colorful, plus not all that common in normal gardens.
