I have two of these, neither in a good place but still beautiful. I guess I will be reading up on them so I can move them later in the season...

That is a pretty colour, I am terrible for moving things about :) I just cut them back as much as I can move them, tell them they will like it there, and to get on and grow:flail:

I am a confirmed Rhododenron addict. Living here, I plant one a year, always on the North and shady side of a house and with very special, highly acidic soil. But living in British Columbia spoiled me forever on the Rhody issue. Here's a couple pics, I just don't have many I kept. These are reds, but the variations are simply amazing in terms of what can be found. Exbury Hybrid Azaleas do the same thing for me but I have found the Rhodies last longer.

Neet, North Carolina is good country for rhodies. One thing they require, even somewhere as dreary as B.C. is some shade, at least. The soil must be somewhat acidic but you can alter soil easily enough. Generally, for the most poart, they require similar conditions as hydrangeas.

I love rhodos and azaleas! My Dad's birthday present last year from me was a bag of triple mix - and then I pulled a rhododendron from the car to put in it!

Yep, we have plenty of acid soil, good ole NC red clay. Both mine are planted in shade, years ago I guess since the house was built in 1956. One is under a maple tree, the other under a huge holly tree.
