Hi guys :)
We went to the flower store over the weekend, and just could'nt resist buying a couple of gorgeous roses they had. Problem is, we stuck them in the ground already - and the temps are going to drop below freezing at night the next few days :sniffle: Do you think they will be ok? Should I cover them with something? We should have waited another week or so- there is a frost advisory in our area(st.louis) until april 15th. We just have been so spoiled by the weather lately-temps in the upper seventies low eighties, we made the mistake and assumed the cold air was gone for good this season :bawling2: Can ya help me out please?

I would say just cover them with a thin bedsheet at night, and remove it in the mornings. That's what we do here in NC, and we're getting ready to have the same problem you are. :bawling:

Thanks!!! That sounds alot easier than putting something over each one like a bucket or something :SmilieFlower:
I wish the weather would figure out what it wants to do :storm:
BTW-think I should worry about the clematis which has already reached a good 5' ?

OOPS, didn't see this last nite, but I would think the clematis is fine. They are tough and haven't even started to bloom yet (I don't think they would have there either.)

Sorry I am late to the thread. Clematis should have no trouble with sevwer temperature swings, once established. Frankly, roses too, although it could cost the new growth. Those sensitive little new green shoots and leaves can freeze right off. As long as the root structure is cool, however, not much to worry about other than a possible retarded development now.
Yeah, weird weather here too...........Winter just absotlutely went away. Not that I am complaining, lol! It came back for a week but that was it.

thanks!:bigwink:
Thankfully our weather looks like it is going to break tuesday :woohoo:
Well- we covered our newsest roses the first couple of nights, and IMO, the ones we left uncovered & just had straw around look way better than the ones we covered  :dontknow: Don't know what to think about that
