Does anyone know what plants would be beautiful in hanging baskets---but low maintenance? I would love suggestions! I've tried fuschias...but they don't respend very well to my care...:sniffle: Thanks for suggestions in advance!

Well, since you live in the South, petunias are always a good choice. Some of the "wave" ones will get really huge and have smaller flowers, although they have fewer color choices than the regular ones.

You should also be able to do Boston ferns well, with the high humidity. You can bring them inside during the winter and enjoy them as house plants too. Or cut them back and put in a garage or basement til the next spring.

Wave petunias are spectacular - and the humming birds really love them! I find osteospermum great for pots as well, along with lobelia in different colours for accent, perhaps some begonias, smaller vines, etc.

In California I used to use begonias liberally, usually the 'doubles'. Almost all hanging baskets like some circulating air, a small breeze, say on a porch. Obviously shade is generally a factor, at least part shade, especially for fuschias and begonias. New Guinea hybrids are another favorite of mine, they can be variegated and absolutely beautiful and they splay out magnificently in baskets. Water them daily!

One can actually use a drip system for elevated pots. That way you don't have to be a slave to your plants, lol.
