Howdie y'all...
While I know that many of y'all live in areas where your ground is probably still frozen over, I've got some neat news for those of us who are already working outdoors plantin' stuff!

I was over at the Lowe's today and I noticed that they had racks and racks of annual-sixpacks......FOR $1.00!!!! All kinds...racks & racks of 'em...and all in pretty decent if not awesome health! I asked a young lady in the garden center...why??? why only a buck? She said they just had too many & wanted to get rid of them while they were still nice. Welp, I loaded a whole bunch of 'em into my buggy and I'm happy to say that they are all planted! Yeeep, the hubby got out there & planted his little heart out!...what a guy :hearthrob:

I'll be going back tomorrow for more...forgot I've got hanging baskets in the back patio that need new plantings...

So'p....y'all should keep an eye (or two :shocker: ) open for some good Lowe's deals!

Take care y'all...happy gardening!

Oh most definitley! LOL! Thing is, the previous owners of our home had landscaped their front yard flowerbeds with 'rocks' where 'flowers & soil' should be...according to Hilda that is! :) I told the hubby that I couldn't take another season with rocks in my flowerbeds. So using Alex Jr's muscle, (in other words, he did all the work!!!), 'we' recolated most of the rocks to other areas of our property and then hauled 3 yards of garden soil to fill in the beds and now we've got alllllllll this space that needs filling in! LOL! We put in 4 rosebushes a few weeks back and then the hubby put in about 4 more last weekend along with some annuals. Now with all he put in last night, its starting to actually take shape. I've got several mandevilla vines that I bought at a Home Depot's clearance section last week...gotta build/buy some trellises for them...along with a pink Carolina jasmine vine and some clematis as well. I'll post some before, during and hopefully after pics soon....

Lowes is where I got those deals I posted pics of a couple weeks ago. I also got 3 lantanas that were marked down to 75 cents each FOR FREE cause the cashier was too lazy to get a manager to change the bar codes.... :woohoo:

I don't know WHY they order so many then practically give them away, but I LIKE IT!

Lowe's and Home Depot drive established nurseries crazy, every Spring. They buy in staggering quantity: millions of plants, then distribute them. Typically, Springtime their deals on plants, trees and bedding plants is half the price of nurseries.

I too have gone flower crazy at lowe's and even Walmart. They have these clearance racks with plants of all kinds for half price or less. :jive: Most of the plants only need a shady spot and some good watering. Then find a place to plant them. :SmilieDaisy:

Kittywarden, I go too. But since I shop all year round in a sometimes snowy area, I need to keep nurseries happy too. They really feel the pinch this time of year. Not that I am the Mother Teresa of the buying public, but I still do some shopping there, especially for exotic plants and, now, lots of pottery and indoor stuff,,,,,,,orchids, etc..
