I was thinking that it might be helpful if we gave some ideas as to what our climate and weather is like where we live (for the seed exchange!)

Well, the NW of England is pretty much known for it's rain - where I am at least! :lol2: We do get some very warm summers (to us, anyway!) Although, even in summer we tend to go from hellishly dry to heavy downfalls!

We do get some hard frosts and snow in the winter, but it seems to be a lot less than previous years!

Also, do you have any specific dry/damp/shady spots in your garden that you'd enjoy something to fill? (I don't know about my new garden yet, but being the 'Experimental Gardener', am willing to give anything a go!) :)

So how about yours?

Pretty dry summers, around 90 degrees F on average. Pretty mild winters, average low is around freezing. We tend to get lots of rain in a short amount and time, then none for a week. So irrigation or daily watering is a must.

I have LOTS of shade with the big trees I have, and shade/wet gardening is my favorite!

hot, hot and more hot. We do have shade so I don't think there isn't anything I can't attempt to grow. If I have trouble I will have my MIL to help she's one of those super green thumb people.

summers are extremely hot & dry [drought conditions the last 2, & we almost broke a record last year with our triple digit weather - i.e. over 100 fahrenheit]. not a lot of precip except spring & fall, if then - been very dry the last few years altogether. winters very mild - yesterday it was in the 80s, today it's in the 40s - changes a lot. but we have only 2 bad weather days built into our school calendar, for days when the weather is too bad for the buses to run - & we didn't use either of them last year.
i have quite a bit of shade where i have difficulty getting anything to grow. the rest is very sunny.
officially, i live in between zones 7 & 8 (http://www.exquisite-gardens.com/gardening_zones.htm). i can't really tell exactly, but that's pretty close.

We're zone 5 here, so a lot cooler than most of the rest of you. However, we tend to have hot summers. Growing season is shorter than most, but still glorious!

Well I havent joined the "seed exchange" yet, I am still looking around the site.
Anyways, Spanish weather, hot and dry, in my region we do have rain but maybe only 10-15 days a year. Now we get cold night but not below zero, we had some snow last year, which was a 1st in the last 30 years, it was only a flurry, same week we got a bit of frost damge to cactus

Obviously cactus do very well, but I am originally from England and have transported house-plants that now grow in the garden eg. cheese & rubber plants. I love honeysuckle and you can buy it here and it grows very well, I also love all bulbs but the come-on far too quick, so I am still practising with them. I have a lot of indiginous plants, like palms etc.........
