Oh, that easy!! I like this thread.:clap2:
Beginning... kind of bare....

This was toward the end of spring 2006.

This is one of my favorite plants.
It now stands 6 feet tall and has beautiful red flowers.
I'm sorry I have no ideal what it's called but I love it.

I thought I had a few summer shots.Guess not.
It is now wild and unruly.
There is absolutely no control which I love but a true gardener probably doesn't.:)
Your Canna is looking great! :)
I love unruly - it reminds me of the English Country Garden style! :)

You have a nice start on something pretty, actually. I noticed the Rubber Tree or whatever and the thought occurred to me that you live in a non Winter sort of place. Is that right?

It's a canna...
Steve sure seems to be confused about plants a lot.... as well as names! Maybe it's just the desert stuff he is used to... or he's being squiffy again...

I think it's Canna and it is 6 feet tall right now with red flowers at the top. It really has become unruly but I love it.
I live in Florida so it's pretty much non winter like in this area.

This is my sago palm

Is there anyway to make it do this? Or is that a different variety?

I think they do that when they get older, get those little bump outs (like cactus do?)

You know, seeing that canna of yours makes me wonder....how hard are those things to grow from seed??? I know they have HUGE black seeds, like the size of black beans!

I don't know how hard they are to grow from seed. My MIL gave me these when they were about 7 inches tall. I will try to find out for you. My MIL has one of the greenest thumbs I know.
If you'd like seeds, Neet, I can include some in the Card Exchange for you - I have masses of the things rolling around my garden at the moment! :lol2:
Here is a site that helps you with Canna propagation :)

:hugs: That'd be great! I have some red ones that I appropriated from my MIL, but I have over 3 acres to plant stuff in now, so I have more room! :daisy:

Thanks Eva! :hugs: I am thinking you might have to soak the seeds or nick them with a knife, they have a pretty hard shell...
I'll go out today and grab some for you! Will let them dry off a little before posting you a soggy envelope! :lol2:
